Holy Cow! Soils was developed out of necessity by Southern Nurseries , a commercial tree and shrub grower in middle Tennessee. Southern Nurseries was unable to locate a high quality soil to meet their standards to use in their growing operation. Terry Flatt, the chief horticulturist and owner of Southern Nurseries began to mix their own Soils with the highest quality compost to inoculate the soil with beneficial microbes. The results were phenomenal… healthy plants and a successful growing operation. The success was in the soil and others noticed. In 1994 Southern Nurseries began selling soil to professional growers and Landscape contractors. Southern Nurseries was soon recognized as a leader in developing the highest quality Soils for growers , landscapers and avid gardeners .

Over the years , SNI continued research and development using the latest breakthroughs in soil science to provide the highest quality soils on earth. SNI eventually gave up the nursery and landscape supply business to focus on the soil business. Today, the company is Holy Cow! Soils, which comes from the customers expression the first time they see our soils.
